Dan is a Psychological Associate in the State of California. As an intern, he worked in Hospice Care where he assisted clients dealing with grief, trauma, and life changes. He was also able to help clients work through anxiety, depression, and stress. Dan provided personalized help for each specific hurdle his clients faced, such as loss of job or relationship, life transitions, and end of life concerns for self or others. Dan received his Doctor of Psychology from California Southern University and his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. His focus in therapy is based on both Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Existential Therapy. In Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dan is able to help the client understand what thoughts are present and how to work through those thoughts to change behavior. An additional option for clients, if they desire, is Existential Therapy; with this optional approach, Dan helps the client to focus on larger questions involving purpose in life, drives and passions, meaning of life and also death, and other topics. While some of Dan’s interests include helping clients who struggle with spiritual concerns and members of the LGBT+ community, Dan is prepared to help each and every person that he can. His experience in working with people from all walks of life and diverse age groups aids Dan’s flexibility and aptitude for helping many different people seeking help.

The most important factor in the therapy process is feeling like you can be authentic and honest with your therapist. Let’s see if we could be a good fit! I am passionate about joining clients on their journeys to increase their overall well-being. I enjoy working with college students and young adults. During these phases of life, transition is constant. Many clients I see begin therapy due to lasting effects of trauma, overwhelming feelings, difficulty adjusting to new circumstances, or disruptive behaviors that interrupt their daily lives. I view my role as to walk alongside clients, offering support, tools, and fresh perspectives as they find their own path toward healing, growth, and making peace with the impact of past experiences. I currently have openings available for new clients. Right now I am offering virtual sessions only. I am partnered with Headway who will confirm your in network status and take care of all insurance billing. Hi! I'm a therapist specializing in anxiety, childhood emotional neglect, trauma, and grief/loss. My clients often come to me feeling stuck, disconnected from themselves, or emotionally dysregulated. Our sessions will be a space where you can slow down and check in with yourself - whether that means getting curious about your past, processing the week, exploring practical tools/coping strategies, or simply allowing yourself to exhale and just be. As a biracial Black and Taiwanese American raised in Taiwan, I understand how culture can can shape our upbringing and sense of self. I use an approach that blends talk therapy with somatic (body-based) practices in order to address your symptoms from multiple angles. Our work together will be shaped by your background, values, needs, and goals. Please feel free to call or email so I can check your session cost with insurance, and/or use the link below to book a free phone consultation. I'm looking forward to connecting with you! https://calendly.com/monicaashley07/30min
Seeking therapy is a brave step. Whether you are presently in crisis or simply feeling a bit stuck in life, I honor the effort and courage that it took you to get here. Even a cursory, online search for a therapist indicates a commitment to your mental health. It also suggests that—regardless of how you might feel in this moment—some small (or large) part of you believes in the possibility of a more peaceful, fulfilling life. As a therapist, I am here to not only affirm and amplify that belief, but more importantly, to help you discover and define its reality for yourself. I work with individuals, couples and complex relational structures utilizing a collaborative, person-centered approach. I have experience working with folks of many ages, backgrounds, and genders, and I am especially passionate about working with people who are looking to explore issues around sexuality. I am currently accepting new therapy clients at this time via telehealth. I use a secure web based platform that allows us to communicate with video, so if you’d like to reach out please do! I look forward to connecting with you!
